Enjoy the 13th Annual Cedar Trails Festival!

 

August 7-10, 2008

 

Thursday, August 7th

5:30pm Opening Ceremonies and Trail Walk Honoring John Heidersbach
Celebrate the beginning of the festival and opening of a special exhibit of the late John Heidersbach's collection of Trails Festival artwork with Cedar Trails Partnership and local dignitaries.
Hearst Center for the Arts, 304 W. Seerley Blvd., Cedar Falls

 

Friday, August 8th

11:30am Senior Cruise
This is an opportunity for senior citizens to explore the trails! See the trail system in the comfort of a van. Cost is $5 and includes lunch, music, and a brief program. Call 291-4490 for reservations.

Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial Street

4:00pm - 7:00pm Dog Walk

Bring your dog out and enjoy the trails on foot! Don't have a dog? Come walk one of the animals from the Cedar Bend Humane Society.

Cedar Falls Paw Park, S. Main Street

5:00pm Bridge to Bridge Ride

Ride the new trails along the downtown Waterloo Riverfront and then kick back and enjoy the sounds of _____ at Main Street's FridayLoo Event.

Lincoln Park, East 4th Street and Lafayette

 

Saturday, August 9th

9:00am - 11:00am Bicycle Safety Rodeo

Come test your cycling safety skills with local Park Rangers and law enforcement officers. Event also features the "I Got Caught" program that awards prizes to children "caught" wearing helmets and free bicycle inspections provided by Bike Tech.

Black Hawk Park, 2410 West Lone Tree Road, Cedar Falls

 

10:00am Tour de Valley Ride

Choose from a 7- or 23-mile ride throughout the Cedar Valley trails. The shorter route is great for young families.

Gateway Park, Downtown Cedar Falls

7:00pm - 10:00pm Light Up the Night Ride

Experience the thrill of a candlelit ride and the pre-ride music of Bob Dorr and the Blue Band provided by the Hearst Center for the Arts. The ride begins at dusk.

Gateway Park, Downtown Cedar Falls

Sponsored by Europa Cycle and Ski and coordinated with the help of the Cedar Falls Junior Chamber (Jaycees)

 

Sunday, August 10th

11:00am Poker Ride

Riders will visit various points of interest along the trails collecting cards to compete in a game of poker for prizes. Special drawings for those under age are available so bring the whole family! The fee is $10 ($5 with your 2008 trails festival t-shirt). Everyone will gather back at Mulligan's where the poker madness begins and prizes are awarded.

Mulligan's Brick Oven Grill & Pub, 205 E. 18th Street, Cedar Falls

Sponsored by Bike Tech with additional support from Mulligan's and Starbucks.

 

The Cedar Trails Festival planning committee is always looking volunteers to help plan events and staff the events in August.
